When does resale beat the box office?
- The show is sold out. Resale is then the only route in.
- You want a particular seat. The official seller shows only unsold seats. Resale may have front sections that sold in the presale.
- You are buying late. Near the date, some sellers cut prices to avoid being stuck with tickets, so resale can dip.
- The official seller is hard to reach from abroad. For example, a US fan buying a UK or Australian show.
When a show is not sold out, the official seller at face value is usually the cheaper choice. Compare both before you pay. Current price ranges are on ticket prices.
Which venues warn about resale?
Oaklawn Event Center in Hot Springs names Etix as its only authorized seller and says third-party resale tickets are not guaranteed by the venue. Both Nov 21 shows are sold out, so resale is the only option there. If you buy, rely on the marketplace guarantee and keep your order records.
Other venues may have similar policies, especially casinos and venues that use their own ticketing systems, such as North Star Mohican, the King Center and the Florida Theatre. UK venues and Union Chapel may require the name on the ticket to match the guest. Check your venue's terms before you buy resale for any show.
How do I spot a bad resale listing?
- Wrong date. Winnipeg, Carlton and Bowler moved from December 2026 to June 10 to 12, 2027. Old December listings are stale.
- Wrong city. Melbourne, FL (Dec 18) is not Melbourne, Australia (Jan 16). Birmingham, UK is not Birmingham, AL.
- Wrong show time. In cities with two shows, make sure the listing matches the time you want.
- Disputed venue. In Brisbane, The Tivoli lists both nights at The Tivoli while Live Nation lists Fortitude Music Hall. Check your ticket.
- "VIP" with no details. A resale seat in a VIP section may not include the Q&A, photo or merch. See our VIP guide.
- Private sellers on social media asking for bank transfer or gift cards. There is no protection if the ticket is fake.
What about age limits on resale tickets?
A resale ticket carries the same entry rules as the original. Many casino venues are 21+, and the venue will not refund you if a guest is turned away for age. Read the age limit guide before you buy.
Can I sell my own ticket?
That depends on the seller. Ticketmaster and AXS often let you resell or transfer through your account, where the venue allows it. Etix and venue box office systems have their own rules.
